Although kora is 100% right on ths history here. I dont think separate islands without seperate switches will stay impossible. This has been such a huge topic, since launch, on youtube, reddit, random game “news sites”, etc.
Nintendo, at this point, knows that most players want this ability.
Call them greedy all you want. They are listening. And im choosing to be optimistic. Im hoping the next game has some kind of common area and then seperate islands. Like your save file is an archipelago. Each player has an island, but the important stuff, like the shops ans special NPCs live on some big important, shared central island. Each player can go to each others islands, talk to their villagers, check out what they’ve built, etc. But not make any permanent changes, because its their island.
Also i think theres precedence for this idea. In prevlus games the main town was a chunknof some main land and the extra stuff was on islands. Now we’re on an island but the extra stuff (hhp) is an archipelago. So next game, were on an archipelago and the extra stuff will be IN SPACE!
The title caught me off guard: like… uhh we have our own island? (Edit) HOLY PUMPKINS
The problem really comes down to the main goals between the games. OG animal crossing had your main goals consist of paying off all your loans and making your house pretty. You could also finish out the museum or create patterns, but that was about it. The villagers also had quite a bit more personality and things to have each player do when those tasks were done.
In new horizons, you not only have most of those things, but you also have the whole, “make your island how you want it” thing, with getting it to 3 stars taking up half of the game at the start, then 5 stars later on.
While having 2 or more players on an island makes that initial process easier, when thats all done, you either have to choose who gets to pick the island layout, or collaborate together on a combined idea that doesn’t really satisfy anyone.
Its far more about the island than the houses imo, and without interesting villagers to interact with, it creates a divide where everyone is wanting to make their own island, but can’t due to this limitation.
What they should’ve done is had each player have their own island, but give them the option to place a vacation home on the other player’s islands to visit. That way, they can still visit other islands on the system and see their progress without it intruding on other player’s progress/vision.
You could even allow other users to edit your island and place limitations on what they can/cant mess with when youre not playing. That way, if a sibling wants to help, they can do that with the limitations set by the island owner
If you buy another copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons from a different region you can have two islands on the same Nintendo Switch.
Dark souls
I just have my second save on an emulator. The controls suck but it’s better than $300
I fully agree and don’t mind it as well, my only problem with ACNH and the sharing is only 1 person can really control the island.
I don’t know about the other games, i have a feeling it was similar in ACNL because of the Mayor mechanic. But i never had to share until my husband decided to get it and we had to buy a second copy of the game cause i enjoyed it so much but was so limited to what i could do on his console save (luckily i already had my own switch)
Wish they could of let you either join the already existing island or make your own but when in doubt i have my ways of making other saves.
another sd card? i bought another card game for the 3ds.
why cant you just make that for the switch. i dont understand that decision. If you want to play with your family, keep one card. If you want multiple islands, get more cards. I dont know why playing together is a valid reason. Its truly greedy and forcing someone to play a game a certain way, has never ended well. We all hacked our 3ds animal crossing to get bells, a better island and all the dreamies and it was totally fine. Now, you get reported, removed from the dreamsuite and risk getting IP BANNED for having goddamn star trees for astetics. ASTETICS!!!
This is rediculous and reflects poorly on nintendo.
EDIT: I also do not want a new animal crossing on the switch 2… the console is bad. It doesnt have any significant new features that justify the price of the console. The switch 2 costs way too much and was poorly made just to get something new on the market. Im really sad how nintendo developed.
The switch 2 and the switch are more like the 2ds and the 3ds. I really hope they just instead try to get some remakes for the old animal crossings for the switch ONE or at least make games from switch 2 and 1 playable on both consoles.
nah flip that, were not all CEOs. Greedy m effers
